The Washington Wizards achieved their first win of the season, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 121-119 Monday night.

While Hawks fans hoped point guard Trae Young and center Jalen Johnson would be enough to pull off a win against a team that has been known to struggle, the Wizards had multiple scoring options and a solid core defense that put pressure on the Hawks to pull off an impressive road win.

Wizards guard Jordan Poole made a huge splash dropping 26 points against the Atlanta Hawks. Poole had another successful night at the three-point line, ending the night being six-of-eight in three-pointers.

Washington tied their franchise history record for making three-pointers in a single game (21 three-pointers), which they also did last season in New Orleans on Valentine’s Day.

The team is looking to carry the momentum forward Wednesday, in a back-to-back appearance against the Atlanta Hawks, but this time at home at Capital One Arena, in a 7 p.m. matchup.
